There is no doubt that Emanuel Ungaro has been at the centre of a huge amount of gossip in the designer clothing world of late.
And now could it be that the French fashion house is hoping to bring in a big name to take the industry’s mind off the absolute error that was appointing Lindsay Lohan as its artistic director last year?
Perhaps so.
Rumour has it that the next famous face to grace the label will be one of London’s best-loved and most talented designers – the wonderful Giles Deacon.
While there is no doubt that such a gifted clothing creator would help to stabilise the brand and stop tongues wagging for all the wrong reasons, contracts are reportedly yet to be signed.
However, fashion spies over at Women’s Wear Daily spotted Deacon enjoying a spot of lunch with Asim Abdullah – the owner of Ungaro – in Paris on Friday (April 16th).
Interesting indeed.
Unfortunately, at present the label is perhaps best known for its disastrous collaboration with Lindsay Lohan.
The monumental flop – which debuted in Paris last October – was slammed by fashion critics as tacky, cheesy and "an embarrassment" for the designer’s decision to feature models wearing truly naff heart-shaped nipple tassels.
Do you think Giles Deacon could help to re-vamp Ungaro?
