If I could choose between selecting a beautiful designer dress from Chanel or one from Heidi Montag’s new clothing range, I think I know which one I would pick.
For me, although celebrities may try their hardest when it comes to designing their own collections, they often fall wide of the mark.
And it would now appear that designers the world over have quite frankly had enough of stars wading into the fashion arena as something of a war of words seems to have broken out.
Relaxnews reports that Zuhair Murad said celebs should "stick to what they know", while Hussein Chalayan called lines by the likes of Madonna, Lindsay Lohan and Lauren Conrad "insulting".
"It’s like saying – and I don’t mean this personally – I can sell more clothes off my name, off my brand, than you can, even though you’re a better designer," he explained.
Additionally, at Dolce & Gabbana’s recent Milan Fashion Week show, a big screen featured shots of ‘real designers’ sewing and sketching, while Viktor & Rolf deconstructed outfits live on stage in Paris.
I think I’ve lost count of the stars who have produced absolutely vile clothing collections of late, but I have to admit I am a big fan of Kate Moss’ range of designer handbags for French label Longchamp.
Do you think celebrities should leave fashion to professional designers?
