While we here at Secret Sales HQ have always been fully aware of just how brilliant British clothing designers are, it’s nice for them to get some recognition from those across the pond.
Alright, alright so Emma Watson might be English herself, but having sampled a whole host of US designers while studying at Brown University (yes, she’s clever too – how annoying) she still says that designers from Blighty are leading the fashion pack.
The actress told Women’s Wear Daily that since having moved to America, she has found it easier to define British fashion, stating that she thinks we opt for bolder styles to compensate for the miserable weather.
"I think that leads to a lot of creativity and colour, and I think that’s why our designers are so innovative," she explains.
"We have great vintage and we love to mix and match," Emma adds.
But contrary to popular opinion, it’s not our fabulous designers such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Christopher Kane that she misses the most while studying, it’s good old British food!
I think she’d fit in well here at Secret Sales!
The actress-turned-designer recently received acclaim from the fantastic Christopher Kane, after she stepped out in one of his autumn/winter collection dresses.
He told Vogue she looked "fresh, elegant and always beautiful".
Do you think British designers are storming ahead of those across the pond?

I agree with Emma! I think British designers are amazing. Being a fashion student I think you can tell when an item is designed by someone like Christopher Kane because it is classier and more sophisticated than the stuff from American designers! I’m not sure how I feel about the leather and lace dresses though! Love Emma too and the blog is really good!
