I have to admit that one look that was baffling me at London Fashion Week was the wet-look, dual-textured hairdo’s that were seen on the catwalks of the likes of Betty Jackson, David Koma and Todd Lynn.
Models were strutting their stuff with a never-before seen combination of glossy, wet roots with sleek, zigzag partings, contrasted with the juxtaposing texture of leaving the rest of the hair au natural.
While I must admit this style looked fabulous and perfectly set off the autumn/winter 2010 season’s military chic clothing styles, it certainly doesn’t look like something that we here at Secret Sales HQ could whip up quickly before a night out on the town.
But that’s where we’re wrong – top hair buff Efi Davies, international artistic director for Toni & Guy, tells me that dual-textured hair is actually a look that can be easily achieved at home.
"It is all about getting a balance between the two textures, so using the right products is essential. For a simple variation place hair into a ponytail, either just below the occipital or at the nape," says Efi.
Leaving the ponytail natural, we should then apply a gel or frizz-control product to the front part of the hair, which will apparently leave us looking like we’ve walked straight off the London Fashion Week catwalks.
I’m going to have a trial run at home tonight.
Fashionistas over at Vogue praised designer newcomer Hakaan for its use of dual-textured hairstyling to offset the "super-sexy" clothing collection that was showcased on the first day of London Fashion Week.
What do you think of this look?
