Celebrity tributes pour in for Alexander McQueen

Celebrity tributes pour in for Alexander McQueen

As I am sure many fashion-followers are, we here at Secret Sales HQ are deeply saddened by the tragic news of Alexander McQueen’s suicide.

The clothing designer was found dead at his London home yesterday (February 11th), just one week on from the death of his mother Joyce.

An official statement from the British Fashion Council read: "He was a unique talent and one of the world’s greatest designers. Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time."

Meanwhile, celebrity tributes for the star of the British Fashion World have been pouring in, proving just how much of an icon McQueen was.

Victoria Beckham, a long-standing fan of the clothing designer, said: "Today the fashion industry has lost a true great. An icon. He made all he touched beautiful."

Similarly, Cheryl Cole, who regularly wore clothes by the designer, described McQueen as "inspirational".

Naomi Campbell, Jessica Alba and Lady Gaga are just another few names in a long list of celebrity fans who have offered their condolences.

McQueen, who won British designer of the year four times, started life as a tailor before going on to become head designer at Givenchy.

The 40-year-old then founded the iconic Alexander McQueen and McQ label, which became a favourite with celebrities and fashionistas the world over.

While this is evidently a huge loss for the fashion world, I am absolutely certain that the legacy of this fantastic designer will live on for generations to come.
