Office clothing dilemma solved

Office clothing dilemma solved

What to wear for work can be a tricky dilemma. Sometimes jobs dictate the clothing you have to wear, but other times the expectations are a little blurred and women are left to decide what is appropriate for themselves.

But more importantly, how do we dress to suit the style of our offices but remain stylish and individual at the same time?

Oonagh Brennan, fashion director at Company magazine, believes that women have so much choice when it comes to work clothing that it is possible to opt for a tailored look but still define your personality.

She notes that shops such as Reiss offer entire collections that could be worn to the office, which offer a feminine cut.

"Or you might be a bit more into the sporty boyish look," she said.

"It’s a bit like Stella McCartney’s style, [or] Kate Moss with wearing peg-leg trousers with a white shirt and waistcoats, the cuts are really quite on trend."

Dresses are another work wear option – although big shoulders are going to be seen less and less as we move into a new season, she added.

Research from Mintel published earlier in January revealed that 24 per cent of females would splash out on work clothes if they felt they were good quality. Ten per cent added that they have smartened up their appearance in the office in an attempt to "get ahead".
