Americans ‘dress better for their age’

Americans 'dress better for their age'

Who do you think dresses well for their age? When it comes to women over 30, who stands out as having got their style and clothing choices just right?

Can you think of any British celebrities who dress well? According to Lizanne Harris at Stylist magazine, English women can’t seem to get it right and go too far one way or the other.

"I do think Americans do it better, like Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie," she said.

Looking at the photographs from the National Television Awards earlier this week (January 20th) I can see her point in some cases.

Of course she is much older than 30, but Sherrie Hewson bared far more than was necessary in her see-through top.

And Louise Redknap looked more like a nun than her former yummy mummy self!

Lizanne told us that: "Simple sophistication is very American and it is one of the trends for spring/summer – that American preppy sports feel."

"It is very wearable," she added.

But what exactly should women of a certain age be avoiding? Hilary Alexander from the Telegraph gave a succinct list.

Short skirts, outerwear that looks like undergarments, knitwear in a cobweb style and American sports trends should be avoided "like the plague", she advised.

Who is your over-30s inspiration???
