When designers were asked by Louis Vuitton to create an item for its charity auction recently, we at Secret Sales were a little surprised that our beloved Marc Jacobs opted to design a dog kennel.
However, much to our relief this week, his integrity was restored when he admitted it had been "a bit of a joke".
"This is all I could think of," he explained to the Times.
"Damien Hirst has done an armoire, Annie Leibovitz designed a camera case and I have my kennel," he said, although he added that a lot of craftwork had gone into completing it.
The items will be auctioned off in aid of the Red Cross, which has celebrated its 150-year anniversary this year. Sotheby’s in London will be the venue for the L’Exellence du Savoir Faire event and will take place on November 17th – by invitation only of course!
It was recently revealed that Daisy Lowe would become the next face of Louis Vuitton and this is something that we are all very excited about at Secret Sales HQ. We can’t wait to see the spring/summer collection campaign alongside Lara Stone.
What do you think of Marc Jacobs’ decision to design a dog kennel?
